A drop-in CrossFit® class is a single session you book and pay for by the session at a box you don’t belong to, with no monthly fee and no contract. It’s for training while you travel, for trying out a new box before you sign up, or simply for not missing your routine on a given day. With Global Wod Pass you book that pass from €10, see real availability and turn up to class with your spot confirmed.

From here we break down how a drop-in works from the inside: what it includes, how much it costs, what you need to bring, what your first class is like and the exact steps to book.

What “drop-in” means and how it works

“Drop-in” is an English term that literally means to stop by. In the context of a box, it’s one-off access to a class (a WOD, short for Workout of the Day) paying only for that session.

The way it works is simple:

You don’t sign anything, there’s no recurring fee and you take on no commitment beyond that one class. It’s the format designed for anyone who trains flexibly or is just passing through a city.

A drop-in isn’t the same as a free trial

Many boxes offer a free trial class to sign up local members. The drop-in is different: it’s a paid service for athletes who already train and want one-off access, usually because they’re visiting from out of town. That’s why the coach assumes you already know the basic movements and the rhythm of a class.

What a drop-in includes

What the pass covers varies from box to box, but the usual set-up is:

What’s usually left out is free use of premium changing rooms, lockers with a padlock or recovery equipment, though it depends on the venue. If something matters to you, ask when you book.

How much a drop-in costs

The price of a drop-in in Spain moves in ranges, not a single flat rate. As a general guide, single passes usually start from €10 and sit somewhere between €10 and €20 depending on the city, the box and whether you buy one day or several.

Some of the factors that shift the price:

You’ll find the full breakdown in the guide to drop-in prices in Spain.

What to bring to a drop-in

You don’t need anything special for your first class. The essentials:

If you already train regularly, you can add your elbow sleeves, wrist wraps, hand grips or skipping rope. You’ll find the detailed rundown in the checklist of what to bring to your first CrossFit® class.

What your first class is like

A standard CrossFit® class lasts around 60 minutes and follows a recognisable structure:

  1. General warm-up and mobility to prepare the body.
  2. Technique or strength piece, where the coach explains the movement of the day.
  3. WOD, the highest-intensity block, against the clock or in rounds.
  4. Cool-down and stretching.

The coach adapts the loads and the movements to your level. This is called scaling: if an exercise is too demanding, they give you an equivalent version. Introduce yourself when you arrive, tell them you’re there on a drop-in and mention any injury or limitation. It’s information the coach needs to look after you.

Tips to make it go well

How to book your drop-in on Global Wod Pass

Global Wod Pass is a directory of CrossFit®, Hyrox® and Cross Training boxes with drop-in booking built in. The process is straightforward:

  1. Search by city or discipline. Head to the CrossFit® category or filter by the city where you’re going to train.
  2. Compare boxes. Check schedules, availability and the pass price (from €10).
  3. Choose a day and time among the slots with a free spot.
  4. Book and confirm. You get your confirmation and all that’s left is to turn up.

By booking in advance you secure your spot and avoid turning up to a box that’s full or closed that day.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need previous experience to do a drop-in?

It helps to have some practice, because the coach assumes a certain level. Even so, you can always scale the movements. If you’ve never trained, let them know when you book and arrive with time to spare so the coach can guide you.

Can I do a drop-in if I’m not a member of any box?

Yes. The drop-in exists precisely so you can train without being a member: you pay for the class you use and that’s it.

What’s the difference between CrossFit®, Hyrox® and Cross Training?

They’re distinct disciplines within functional training. We explain it in detail in CrossFit® vs Hyrox® vs Cross Training.

And if I have to cancel?

It depends on each box’s policy. Check the cancellation terms before you book so you know whether there’s room for a change or a refund.
